Speech Therapy

We provide speech and language therapy services at our clinic in Sandusky or virtually! If interested or want to learn more about our speech therapy services please call 419-656-3053!

First steps include scheduling an initial evaluation. We then take two weeks to complete our process of preparing the full evaluation report and treatment plan, this includes all of the information we gathered during the evaluation and our professional interpretation of the findings. The treatment plan consists of the proposed speech and language goals and recommended number of sessions per week. Please keep in mind, nothing is set in stone, we are always willing to work with your schedule and budget! We want services to be available for all, because kids deserve to have access to the help they need.

We Help With:

Articulation/Speech Sounds

This includes:

- Talking clearly for others to understand

- Improving "lisps" (when tongue sticks out for "s" sound)

- Saying all age appropriate sounds correctly ("ring" instead of "wing")

- Speaking loudly/clearly enough for others to hear

Communication

This includes:

- Utilizing Alternative, Augmentative Communication (AAC) and devices

- Encouraging children to talk/express themselves (for non/late talkers)

Vocabulary

This includes:

- Using and understanding grade level vocabulary words

- Using strategies (i.e. context clues, resources)

- Understanding grade level material/assignments/projects/textbooks

Executive Functioning

This includes:

- Paying attention

- Remembering what others have said

- Planning skills

Receptive Language

This includes:

- Turn taking at games and in conversations

- Making eye contact

- Asking and answering questions in conversations

- Understanding feelings of self and others

Sentences and grammar

This includes:

- Writing or saying full sentences with correct grammar and sentence structure (words in the correct order)

- Using pronouns, adjectives, nouns, etc correctly

- Correctly writing/saying simple, compound, or complex sentences

- Writing essays

Reading Skills

This includes:

- Reading grade level passages out loud correctly

- Understanding what was read

- Reading clearly and fluently

Expressive Language

This includes:

- Using words/AAC/body language/pictures to express wants, needs, and thoughts
